Chinland is one of the most beautiful places to visit in Myanmar. It is a mountanous region. Her beauty is unique. It is a charming land. The highest peak is Mount Victoria (10,016 ft) near Kanpalet City which is overall the third tallest peak in Myanmar. The lowest point and hottest place is Vaar village near Run River between Falam City and Lumbang Village, where trucks and cars used to stop by the police or customs during socialist and military government.

The Chinland is situated in the western part of Myanmar. There is the Mizoram State in India and Chittagong Hill Tracts in Bangladesh; Margwe Division and Sagaing Division are in the East and Rakhine State in the south.

The Chinland which as been "a forbidden state" in Myanmar is the least visited region in Myanmar since the time of Gen. Ne Win. The last foreigner, the missionaries, in the Chinland were deported by Ne Win's military government 1966 and the government banned all foreign visitors to Chinland since then. The Chinland is the most unfamiliar and unexplored region in Myanmar until today because of the government restriction. The government were really worry that the Chin people mighat have connection with western powers since Ne Win took power in 1962. There was no domestic and international tourism in the Chin State until today.

The Burmese military government had more restriction for the Chinland during their long term rules. The military government called it "restricted area" since 1988 up rising and no foreigner were accepted without government approval and only a handful of foreigners were accepted for development project under UNDP program.

Today the door is openned slowly and a very few tourists visited the Chinland. Many of the mountains, rivers, forest and rocks are unexplored yet. Many mountain peaks are unmeasured because of lack of equipments and government's rules and regulations. Burmese government did very little survey in the Chin State.

There could be many invaluable minerals and herbs in the region. There might be unknown birds and spacies in the forests by the zoologists and botanists. There are beautifual flowers like Rododendron, faiceu, senri and many other more. We are not sure how many of them are known and unknown flora and fauna.

The landscape is beautiful; the weather is very pleasant. It is a charming land. Tourism is not opened yet for the Chinland. The Chin State government really needs to think and opened the Department of Tourism sooner than later.

There are many interesting places to visit while you are in the Chinland like Rih Lake, Zinghmuh Tlang, Rungtlang, Mount Kennedy, Mount Victoria and Natma Taung National Park. The cities like Hakha, Falam, Matupi and Tiddim are beautiful and famous for their sight seeing.

There are many beautiful places around Hakha city like the Valley of Nawi, the confluence of Timit River and Tita River which is the beginning of Kaladan River. I used to call these places "The Chinland California" because the landscape is very beautiful like the State of California in the USA. I hope the movie companies in Myanmar and abroad will produce some nice movies around Hakha. It would be a perfect location to shoot cowboy movies.
